Hey, after reading the bible one night, I came across a section I did not really get. I don't really understand the signifigance of this, so would someone please explain it to me?

So what's the question with this passage?
It's a geneology. They are somewhat common in scripture.

Gen 5 seems boring and pointless but it's a perfect example of how the Bible is divinely engineered!
There is actually a message hidden in Genesis 5 - the gospel message. If you list down the Hebrew names from Adam to Noah and translate the names to the English meanings, you get something like (sorry cant rem the exact meanings)...
man (sinless at first)--------------------Adam
appointed/replaced---------------------Seth
mortal/sick--------------------------------Enosh
possessing-------------------------------Kenan
Praise of God-----------------------------Mahalalel
coming down-----------------------------Jared
teaching/walking right with God------Enoch
His death will bring----------------------Methusaleh
Powerful-----------------------------------Lamech
Rest/comfort------------------------------Noah
you can check this out but you'll have to use a couple of good Hebrew names dictionaries.
