Mary: I've thought of this a few times, what does Spurgeon believe that is in oposition to our beliefs here? Is it mostly the duty faith belief?
Spurgeon accepted the perspective of Fuller on most of the key issues, though there are some fine differences of course as Spurgeon always attempted to synthesize the historic Calvinism of Dort with that of the Fullerist strain. Based on what statements are quoted, Spurgeon can be pressed into any mold of alleged belief.
The controversy over "transferred righteousness" is a big one in understanding the various positions; we have been through it in the "Christ made sin" discussion a few years ago. :)
