God of Power

One of the most disgusting things about this world, especially the religious world, is the type of powerless, feminine god they've created for themselves. And if this wasn't bad enough, they slap this description upon [who they say is] "the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."
Anyone who can read the scriptural accounts should be able to see that the God of scripture is a God of power. He gets what He wants, when He wants it.
And all the inhabitants of the earth [are] reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and [among] the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? (Daniel 4:35)
This is crystal clear.
The religious world portrays their god as some kind of old man in a rocking chair, crying over how failed his plans have turned out and hoping it all works out in the end.
This guy (I mean, god) just loves everybody and wants them all to be his friends. They'll say he's not responsible for any of the "bad stuff" in this world.
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things]. (Isaiah 45:7)
We know that God is one "who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will." (Eph. 1:11)
That's right--everything which happens, whether we decide to deem it "good" or "bad", is occuring according to the will and purpose of God.
The LORD has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom. (Prov. 16:4)
Look at all of the many examples of God's power throughout the scriptures. Here are just a few more examples:
Romans 9:17, Pharaoh raised up for God's purpose
Proverbs 21:1, the heart in the Lord's hand and turned wherever He pleases
Isaiah 46:10, the Lord does all His pleasure and His counsel stands
Romans 9:18, God hardens whom He pleases
Genesis 50:20, God ordained men to treat Joseph poorly for His own purpose
When the wicked appear to be "doing well", people automatically assume God has some kind of love for them. This is not necessarily so.
When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; [it is] that they shall be destroyed for ever. (Psalm 92:7)
Let's look at some excerpts from Psalm 73:
For I was envious at the foolish, [when] I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
For [there are] no bands in their death: but their strength [is] firm.
They [are] not in trouble [as other] men; neither are they plagued like [other] men.
Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them [as] a garment.
Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
They are corrupt, and speak wickedly [concerning] oppression: they speak loftily.
They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
Behold, these [are] the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase [in] riches.
When I thought to know this, it [was] too painful for me;
Until I went into the sanctuary of God; [then] understood I their end.
Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
I also enjoy the account of Gideon and the Midianites:
And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where [be] all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. (Judges 6:13)
And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the [other] people go every man unto his place. (Judges 7:7)
And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand. (Judges 7:9)
That is how people win battles: because the LORD has delivered one group into the hand of another group. All for His purpose. It could be to help you for His own purposes or it could be so He can destroy you later with a couple of lowly men for the sake of His great name!
And [Gideon] said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family [is] poor in Manasseh, and I [am] the least in my father's house. (Judges 6:15)
And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that [are] with thee [are] too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me. (Judges 7:2)
These things demonstrate that God is in control.
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not [this] for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy name's sake...(Exodus 36:22)
Just look at how many times God says He does something for His own sake, or for His own name's sake!
Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because [they are] many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD! (Isaiah 31:1)
Truly, in this world, there is no fear of God before the eyes of men. (Rom 3:18) They do not tremble at the thought of a God who works all things according to the counsel of His will, and does what He pleases with none to stay His hand.
