Common Grace=Shenanigans

Often times while listening to someone defend 'Common Grace' we're given examples of proof such as Technology, Health Science, Freedom, etc...

Something that seems to escape the defender of Common Grace is the fact that non-elect individuals benefiting from these things is not a 'good thing'. In fact the above examples have aided in the furtherance of many versions of a false gospel. The examples could be endless, but suffice it to say, whatever 'benefit' sinful humans get their hands on (especially the non-elect) they pervert any 'good' that may come from it.

Even more the combination of all three of the examples above have provided the conditions necessary to see the greatest country to ever exist fall into shambles...watch and see what Obama does with these three examples.

Common Grace? I declare shenanigans!

    Thoughtful words Mickey!

Common Grace advocates will say and teach anything in their rebellion to the One, True, Holy, Sovereign, and Righteous God. However my prayer is that the Lord would break their (elect only) stubborn pride.

Common grace, when I first heard the term in my former church didn't sound right to me. What I mean is that the two words don't go together. I just believe it to be a thrological term invented by sinful man. I see no warrant for it in the Holy Scriptures. I don't deny that God shines the sun and pours the rain on the elect and non-elect, but to suggest that this is any kind of "grace" seems erronious to me.

Thank you for your response to my Philippians article earlier.

I know what you mean Kevin, even some of those who hold to 'Common Grace' don't like the term! The very essence of Common Grace (or whatever you want to call it) denies that God has specific purposes for everything that happens. It implies that God works in generalities. The fact is God works everything for the good for the elect and He also works everything for the hardening of the reprobate. Regardless of how we judge any event that takes place we can be sure of these two things. When we see the wicked prosper we can take comfort that their time (if the indeed are reprobates) will come, and if they are truly elect we can rejoice that one day God will bring them to a knowledge of the truth and that Christ bore their punishment.
