Jewels from Psalm 3

In every day life, we can experience a similar situation.Ps 3:1-8, (KJV)
1 Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
How we need the closeness of God when people say or think this about us. Doesn't it just show the ignorance of unbelievers who say there is no help from God. Doesn't it make us rejoice when we see the proof of God's words, when He tells us that the natural man receives not the things of God because they are spiritually discerned? (1 Cor 2:14, (KJV))2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
Isn't this just a wonderful verse?3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
God is our shield. God is our protection in this spiritual battle. He is the defender of His own. David tells us that God is his glory, nothing that David has done, but God is his Glory. God is also the lifter up of David's head. How we need our heads to be lifted up at times. We see from this verse the Sovereignty of God in lifting up our heads. Even this is not done in the spiritual or physical sense by anyone other than God. Praise His Name!!
What a place David was here. He knew his prayers were heard. A child of God is taught of God. When a child of God is in relationship with Him, there is communucation both ways. David had the assurance that he was being heard. This is every child of God's experience.4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
This is just wonderful. It is all by God's grace and power that we are asleep and awake. He gives us breath and we breathe. If He doesn't give us breath, we leave the earth to eternity. Isn't it just wonderful to know that we can trust God to sustain us in every area of our lives? We need not be worried (Matthew 6:34).5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.
Imagine, one person can say that, knowing that their confidence is in God, and not man. It is just like his encounter with Goliath in that sense. Just imagine, David was not afraid of ten thousands of people. We have to constantly remember that he could only NOT be afraid, because of his close personal relationship with God. I am reminded that the weopons of our warfare are NOT carnal, but are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Cor 10:4).6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
I think the way we can argue sometimes (me included) can be in the flesh, but this is not the way to pull down strongholds of religion and other things. It is the job of the Holy Spirit to do these things. This is why we need to pray for our opponents instead of trying to convert them as I am wont to do sometimes. We should not get angry with these people, but rather leave them in the hands of God. He does the work of regeneration and conversion from first to last.
Here we see this protection of God being worked out. He deals with David's opponents, and He will deal with ours too. This is a given gift from God.7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Isn't this just wonderful? We are given a verse here that can smash every arguement in pieces. We have a double whammy here. On the one hand, we are told that Salvation belongs to the Lord. In other words, who God saves is His choosing. All Glory belongs to God in salvation. The passage then goes on to say that "thy blessing is upon thy people". Notice it doesn't say, "thy blessing is on everyone without exception". There is a particularity about the blessings of God.8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
This is why the bible is only for the Elect of God.
Thank God for the bible. Thank God that salvation comes by revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by no human decision. We know this because when our sin is confronted by the OT law, we are condemned, and so we know that we are rank sinners. God came to save those who are sinners. AMEN AMEN AMEN!!!!!
Praise the Lord for He is in full control of His universe. He knows who are His. Let us rejoice always in the Lord, for He is our maker and sustainer. Nothing is impossible with God. Praise His Majestic Name.
Love in Christ,
Kevin.
