What is the Gospel?

Rate this Entry

Gal 1:11(NASB) For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.

The Gospel is an
announcement of glad tidings. It is the good news about the great salvation purchased by Jesus Christ. It is the declaration of the complete and finished work of Jesus Christ in saving His people from their sins. The finished work involves His incarnation, life, death and resurrection. The Gospel is a declaration of God's love for His people. True love involves action. Love never fails. There is nothing that man can add to this work. The work is done. It is by Grace.

Preaching the Gospel is just declaring the Good news. God has ordained the preaching of the Gospel to bring the good news of His accomplished salvation to the elect. The only qualification one needs to preach the Gospel is to know it and believe it. The Gospel is hated by some, rejected by most, but loved by few.
