We all know what the Bible says about calamities and disasters. Unfortunately, "religionists" insist that it came from the devil, giving too much credit to the enemy of our souls. Isaiah 45:7 God says "...I create evil...", or "calamity" or "disasters" depending of which translation you read. We also read in Amos 3:6 "..shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?" or, again, "calamities or disasters". So, we know that God does things in a Sovereign way and Paul teaches us that the "pot" - WE - cannot question the POTTER - the way the Potter, God, does things the way he does.
Let's make this clear: Nothing escapes the Will and the Purpose of God! So called "preachers" attempt to do an exegesis of God out of every bad thing that happens, as if they believe that God is in some kind of hook, from which he needs to be taken out, i.e., they feel that their role is to take God out of the hook!
The question then, is not WHY IT HAPPENED! When He walked upon the earth, Jesus came face to face to events and situations that were also not escaping of God's Will and Design! He faced storms, diseases, and even death! The same people, as myself, who believes the Sovereignty of God in everything, MUST be consistent and believe that the events Jesus faced were also under the eyes of the same Sovereign God, from Whom it was prophesied that He would cause "calamities and disasters" as stated above from Isaiah and Amos. Jesus was fully aware of God Sovereignty! Make no mistake about it!
The point here is not what Jesus knew and Jesus did not go out preaching or proclaiming that those disastrous events were the Will of God, therefore He would remain aloof and act indifferently toward them! NO! He did something about it! In the case of impending disasters, He rebuked the storms! NO, He did not go against the Will of God; rather, He fulfilled it in that He proved that since whatever catastrophe would come from God, IT WOULD ALSO GO AWAY by God's power! He rebuked the storm, He healed the sick and HE FED THE HUNGRY!
I believe that the Body of Christ today, the saved Elect, should follow in the footsteps of Jesus. So what that what happened in Haiti was the Will of God? The question is not WHY it happened, but as Jesus, we should, as HIS BODY, ask: WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? That is the ONLY attitude that we should have! We must ACT not against the Will of God, but to show that God is IN FULL CONTROL but turning this situation into whatever good we can promote in this side of Heaven.
My conclusion is very simple: ASK NOT WHY THIS HAPPENED because we already know why it happened! ASK, rather, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO ABOUT IT as a Christian who believes that I am being transformed into the likeness of Christ!
That is also my prayer!
