Don't Raise the Debt Ceiling!, BUT

There is a lot of talk these days about Congress engaging what is now an age-old ritual of raising the debt ceiling by hundreds of billions or even trillions of dollars. It's going to happen. The most reasonable and sane of arguments against it are doomed to fail early and often, no matter how much I or anyone else support indisputable arguments against raising the debt from a constitutional and national survival perspective. So forget about change in this area, it's dead and gone. I'm not even going to present once again the arguments for stopping the debt expansion in its tracks; the majority are not going to listen. Though I am ABSOLUTELY against raising the debt ceiling by a single dollar even if it forces a million federal workers into temporary furlough and many of those to lose their employment permanently, we all know my position on such an issue is not going to be accepted by the majority of Americans who are primarily concerned with preserving government paychecks of all sizes and sorts.
The fact that this nation has sinned away its day of opportunity for preserving a constitutional Republic is something that should sober us deeply as gospel believers. Why are so many believers more concerned with campaigning to save a vanishing hope of earthly national revival than contemplating how we can promote the advancement of the gospel light that has been graciously given to us almost exclusively? Frankly, I don't understand it. I'm still meditating, studying, and praying as to where the Lord is taking us in these times. The only light I have right now is that He is probably delaying the advancement of His glorious truth to future generations, to a large degree. BUT as the Lord has done this so often in past ages, this should not surprise us in the least!
