It is always interesting when we compare the God of the bible to the god professed by most of Christendom. In most Christian churches across the world, God is shown to be only a God of love, mercy, grace, and peace. This is emphasized so much that for someone to even hint at a possibility of God having wrath, anger, jealously, and vengeance is to be marginalized and ridiculed among many of the churches today. To mention these attributes of God brings stigma to those of us who seek to follow and worship God in all His perfect attributes. To blatantly ignore certain attributes of God is in effect creating your own god within your mind who is more acceptable than the God revealed through the Scriptures. It is my belief that when people and churches diminish God’s attributes such as his wrath, anger, vengeance, and hate, it will lead them into doctrinal error. This is very noticeable in the doctrines of election and reprobation, where many years of denying certain attributes of God has resulted in churches which emphasis a universal love of God and free will within man directly contradictory to scripture. While ultimately this denial of some of God’s attributes is due to most of these individuals and churches being unregenerate it is still important for us to examine the scriptures that speak to these often overlooked and forgotten aspects of God’s nature. If we truly want to follow and worship God then we need to not ignore part of who He is and in effect create a God of our own imagination.

The apostle Paul quotes from several different passages from Scripture including: Psalm 14, Psalm 53, Psalm 5, Psalm 140, Psalm 10, Isaiah 59:7-8, and Psalm 36:1. Paul’s main point in quoting all these passages is to emphasis the point of that no person ever has been righteous in the sight of God and this has been shown from many scriptures throughout the Old Testament. Paul is clearly showing how all men in and of themselves are never righteous and deserve the wrath of God. Righteousness can not be found within men and has never been found coming from man. Everything that proceeds from man’s nature is evil and against God. These verses are a clear indictment against the human race, whom stand completely guilty before the righteous God.

The concept that God is eternal is widely known and professed by most Christians today. However, it seems that in reality most people who claim that God is eternal do not truly understand the many implications this has on understanding Christian doctrine and practice. It is essential that we have a clear picture of the eternal God and how God in eternity works. It is very easy for our human minds to begin to see God ONLY acting within the constraints of time. This will inevitably lead into error within doctrine and result in a God who is less that God. It is important to affirm that God does indeed work within time and is constantly doing many things everyday. The best instance of God working within time is the whole incarnation of Christ on Earth. ...

Chris from TestAllThings uses the following verse to show that adding or taking away from the 66 book protestant canon is wrong.

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. (Revelation 22:18-19)

Let’s look closely at this verse and determine the context and meaning of the word “book” that is used in the above passage. The main question one should have when they read this passage is what book is being referred to. Is it as Chris says the 66 book protestant canon? Can this interpretation be valid? We shall see.
