Bible discussion is always welcome. But we will not get into endless debates over "Chuck Weise's" new translation of the Bible. As if there are not 100's of translations already. Keep pushing the envelope Chuck. Are you ready to sit in the "Comfy Chair"? If you wish to respond, respond to me through the PM system. By Grace Alone....Nicholas

One night while having dinner with a couple from our congregation I told them I struggle with knowing what to pray because I hate blabbing on about whatever. Since I know God is sovereign, I just thank Him for Christ's perfect work and keep it short and to the point. I told them that's why I love hymns so much because they put my thoughts to words...much more poetic and rich words. That's when she gave me that book.

Yeah, I had a friend give me a book called Christmastide; Prayers for Advent Through Epiphany From The Divine Hours, by Phyllis Tickle. I never heard of 'Praying the hours' before she gave me this book but so far it is very rich. I'm not very consistent at all in keeping up with it, but when I do read through and meditate on the scriptures and prayers it is very edifying.
  8. Oh, I thought you were kidding. I guess this is a book by Tickle on praying the Hours. I use the Brotherhood Prayerbook http://www.llpb.us/
  9. Ha! No just the traditional hours of prayer. I haven't been very good and keeping them lately, but I'm hoping to get the "Treasury of Daily Prayer" for Christmas and that should help.

Hey Chuck I see in your 'interests' you put: "Praying the hours", would that be a Phyllis Tickle work?

    Hey Chuck,

I still disagree with you on the "why did you leave me here" question, that's ok, the Lord will tell us more when we see Him

Anyhoo just wanted to tell ya, I live on the eastern end of Michigan...I thought "Middleville" was something you made up so I looked it up, it looks like a beautiful place!!!

Hope you are having a very blessed day (Romans 8:28)

For whatever strength of arm he may have who swims in the open sea, yet in time he is carried away and sunk, mastered by the greatness of its waves. Need then there is that we be in the ship, that is, that we be carried in the wood, that we may be able to cross this sea. Now this Wood in which our weakness is carried is the Cross of the Lord, by which we are signed, and delivered from the dangerous tempests of this world.--St. Augustine
