    Saints not Sinners

Christians can sin but cannot continue in sin,.Is it not a contradiction to call a Saint a Sinner, example a christian speaking to a unbeliever may say your a sinner i am a sinner, or even more incredible what is frequently heard in reformed churches in Britain , prayers from the pulpits that we are sinners, even sunday after sunday bringing christians in prayer to the foot of cross for forgiveness of sins for the week, i believe it is for outward show of false humility,. Saints are never called Sinners in the bible ,. Paul said he was the chief of Sinners past tense ,in Christ he was not a sinner [plural] ,.We are seated with Him in Heavenly places now, the exchanged life our substitute has borne our sin [in] His body,. We walk in the Spirit not in the flesh now,etc.. So where does it ever say we are sinners [plural] ,In Christ we are to God just as though we had never sinned now, I think saying that christians are still sinners is lack of faith in the exchanged life of Christ,. It is the present tense which is used in this verse:

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.
For whatever strength of arm he may have who swims in the open sea, yet in time he is carried away and sunk, mastered by the greatness of its waves. Need then there is that we be in the ship, that is, that we be carried in the wood, that we may be able to cross this sea. Now this Wood in which our weakness is carried is the Cross of the Lord, by which we are signed, and delivered from the dangerous tempests of this world.--St. Augustine

    Re: Saints not Sinners

I've been a Christian for almost 10 years and I'm still struggling with 'first things'--feel like I need to go back to Christianity 101 from time to time. One question I have is: If we, as God's children, have been justified through Christ, forgiven of sins past, present and future--standing as justified in God's sight--then why is it that I still have to ask God's forgiveness when I mess up in my Christian walk? (i know it's necessary, but why? I know that sin in our life interferes with our relationship with God, but why else?)

The way you are reading this w.b ,is that paul was continueing in sin and not in Christ,. you are taking paul out of context,. In bible teaching a christian is set apart from sinners he walks in the Spirit not in the flesh we are saints our naming and Calling is from God,....Ivor Thomas,...

Jason ,.Christ offered or presented His blood once only for our sins if we do sin we do not have to keep asking forgiveness,.the bible says we are to confess our sin to the Lord ,. and move on in our christian walk,.Ivor Thomas.
