Not too long ago we got the NOOMA videos with Rob Bell in at my work. Each DVD is about 11 minutes long and sells for about $13. They've been playing them in the music department. When I walked by Rob Bell was digging a hole in a parking lot and explaining the fall. He said, "God respects his creatures so much that he lets them do whatever they want." He then went on to say that it is the same way today as it was for Adam.
For whatever strength of arm he may have who swims in the open sea, yet in time he is carried away and sunk, mastered by the greatness of its waves. Need then there is that we be in the ship, that is, that we be carried in the wood, that we may be able to cross this sea. And Rob Bell is considered by many in the EC movement to be a fine upstanding example (doctrinally and conservatively)...
I'll tell ya - there are so many these days taking on the label of emergent, you'd think it was the hottest new craze. Hmmm... maybe it is?

I was stationed by the NOOMA display at work today so I thought I would keep myself informed by listening to all the NOOMA DVDs. The vast majority was just fluff with pop psychology and social justice being passed off for Christianity but the worst thing I came across other than what I already posted was his explanation of the passage where Peter walks on water, falls, and then Jesus reprimands him for his lack of faith. He went on to explain rabbinic tradition and then claimed that Jesus wasn't complaining that Peter didn't have enough faith in Jesus but that Peter didn't have enough faith in himself. Rob Bell needs to move to the Crystal Cathedral.
