"Luther's New Testament was so much multiplied and spread by printers that even tailors and shoemakers, yea, even women and ignorant persons who had accepted this new Lutheran gospel, and could read a little German, studied it with the greatest avidity as the fountain of all truth. Some committed it to memory, and carried it about in their bosom. In a few months such people deemed themselves so learned that they were not ashamed to dispute about faith and the gospel not only with Catholic laymen, but even with priests and monks and doctors of divinity." - A complaint by German humanist Johann Cochlaeus.

Yeah, it's cool. The sound quality is fantastic.
Get a headset w/mic, and a soundcard if you don't have one! You can get them both for about 25 bucks if you shop around.
It would be great to speak to most of the people from here in a group setting and learn more about their personality, to help figure out why they think some of the things they do. Just imagine how interesting it would be to hear how annoying and crass I really am!

You'll need a microphone and speakers if you are going to use our voice server. This server is available only to subscribers for the time being. We're planning on using it sometime, but we're not sure when just yet. However, we're opening it up to anyone who wants to use it (subscribers) for whatever reason they might have. I'm still getting used to the software, but from my experience, it's really neat!
Here are the instructions.
Go to http://www.goteamspeak.com
Click "Downloads"
If you use Windows, then click the first download link.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and press, "I agree"
Download and install the software.
Click "Next"
Click "I accept the agreement"
Keep Clicking "Next"
Click "Install"
Keep clicking "Next"
Click "Finish"
Click "Next"
Click "Finish"
After the software loads, click "Connection" and then "Connect"
Fill out the form as shown. No need to enter a server password. After tonight's chat, we will actually have login ids for you to use.
After you click connect, you'll hear the sound prompt "Link Engaged."
If you would like to make it work sort of like paltalk where you press the Ctrl button or another hot key in order to chat, then click "Settings" -> "Sound Settings" and press the "Push to Talk" radio button. Click the "Set" button, and choose a key of your choice.
Keep in mind that this is not text chat. It's a voice server. Everyone can talk at the same time if they like - we don't have to take turns and can interrupt each other. So it's unlike PalTalk in this regard. We're going to use it to have voice conversations that can be recorded.
Feel free to connect to this server whenever you want. It's for YOUR use! If you would like to chat with another subscriber, then just schedule a time when you can both connect to this server. We're going to use it for scheduled chats, etc..
If you like, you can minimize teamspeak to your system tray. It then runs in the background, and you can have a conversation with someone while you browse the web together, or even supplement it with msn messenger or our "live chat!" feature while you text chat and add voice to it. Play around with it, I think you'll like it!

OK, after tonight's informal meeting after the superbowl, we're going to secure the server so that everyone will need a username or password. It will be open to anyone that posts here on this board. If you'd like a username and password, then send ugly_gaunt_cow a private message, and he'll create an account for you. For consistency sake, your username will be the same as what you are using on the forum. Make sure you tell him what you want your password to be. It should be easy to remember and different from your forum password if you don't want him to know that

Server is open to everyone! I think it's great too! We've tested it out with three people on at the same time. I'm sure it candle a much higher load also. Please, if you haven't tried it out yet, do sign up for an account. You will be pleasantly surprised. This will work for future voice conferences, I am sure of that.

Do It.
"Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so..."
Due to the feedback on the server because all participants are using speakers and microphone I'm going to look for an affordable usb headset that I would like all participants to use. This way the server will work just like a telephone conference system. I'll report back after I find something that works. We're going to need this before we begin our online conferences.

I think we, as a group, should set an evening aside to use it to get better aquainted with one another.Originally Posted by Highlyfavored
Nothing formal per-say. Just some wholesome conversation to get a feel for each other.

I'm in if it's after 8pm weeknights or anytime on the weekends.
