    Pre-Reformation elect?

I have a question. I have been studying church history recently, I have studied the scriptures pertaining to what we see as the Ekklesia (sp?) and I have also studied the reformers somewhat...

What I would like to know is are there any great contributors to doctrine and the spreading of God's truth in the first 100-1300 years of the "church".

I have been reading about alot of the corruption of the Roman Catholic church and I would like to know if there were any saints in the church or outside that are notable?

Read about Gottschalk. HE had some supporters. His writings are few, but very interesting. He was in the 9th century I believe.

    Re: Pre-Reformation elect?

Some of the most common names associated with pre-Reformation truth are John Wycliffe, William Tyndale, John Huss, and Jerome of Prague. But the most amazing thing to consider if this: most of those TODAY who stand for the truth of the gospel above and beyond the popular well-published authors will not be known a hundred years from now.

Any post-apostolic defender of the gospel in the centuries following the apostles would have had his writings destroyed by the organized state-church.

My conviction is that we will not know the names of a host of defenders of the truth in past ages until our entrance into glory!
Now see here how sleepy-headed all our opponents are, and how little it helps a man to rely on the ancient fathers, for all their repute down the course of the ages! Were they not all equally blind to, yes, and heeldess of, Paul's clearest and and plainest words?
