    Re: The 2008 Economic Crisis

I watch the news everyday. I sit there shaking my head in amazement. It appears to me that God has thrown a blanket of incompetence over the government. Don't let Congress balance your check book.

If you are having trouble paying your bills, all you have to do is go buy something that you can't afford and that should fix your problem. Well, Congress thinks so.
Rom 8:18-21, (NASB), For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.

    Re: The 2008 Economic Crisis

It's an odd pattern but I see the U.S. government on the path to unity with the RCC (at least their economic views). I'm not an expert on all of the economic views of the RCC; but if the RCC has adopted Aquinas' economic views then we are pretty darn close.

Then of course there is the 'Evangelical church' and they are on the same path.

    Makes you think.

Kind of charismatic too i.e. if we give our seed faith gift "taxes" then we will be blessed "welfare, grants, healthcare etc.etc.

In their wolrdview Rush Limbaugh is the antichrist.

The RCC has their 'charismatic' movement as well: Stigmata, demonic possessions, Mary superstitions, and who knows what else...

    Re: The 2008 Economic Crisis

    Brethren:

These are the lyrics for New Zealand National Anthem, but I wish all of us could pray this prayer substituting the words: "New Zealand" by "The U.S.A.". The music is also very beautiful and sounds like an old congregational hymn, but the lyrics is my prayer for my country (As you know I became an American Citizen sometime ago).

God of Nations at Thy feet,
In the bonds of love we meet,
    Hear our voices,
    we entreat,
    God defend our free land.
    Guard Pacific's triple star
From the shafts of strife and war,
    Make her praises heard afar,
    God defend New Zealand.

Men of every creed and race,
    Gather here before Thy face,
Asking Thee to bless this place,
    God defend our free land.
    From dissension, envy, hate,
    And corruption guard our State,
Make our country good and great,
    God defend New Zealand.

Peace, not war, shall be our boast,
But, should foes assail our coast,
Make us then a mighty host,
    God defend our free land.
Lord of battles in Thy might,
    Put our enemies to flight,
Let our cause be just and right,
    God defend New Zealand.

Let our love for Thee increase,
    May Thy blessings never cease,
Give us plenty, give us peace,
    God defend our free land.
    From dishonour and from shame,
    Guard our country's spotless name,
    Crown her with immortal fame,
    God defend New Zealand.

    May our mountains ever be
    Freedoms ramparts on the sea,
    Make us faithful unto Thee,
    God defend our free land.
Guide her in the nations' van,
Preaching love and truth to man,
    Working out Thy glorious plan
    ,
    God defend New Zealand.

    Re: The 2008 Economic Crisis

    Just to clarify:
By the way, I am Brazilian by birth and American by God's Grace. Because of Soccer World Cup every four years, I love to learn, as a hobby, other nation's National Anthem. One day I heard New Zealand's National Anthem on the Olympics and NEVER forgot. I believe it to be the most beautiful National Anthem of all.

I am not from New Zealand. I am a natural of Brazil who is now an American Citizen.

    Thanks.

Is the world going to dump USD? Maybe that's why we haven't heard from HC lately and Bernanke just bought a ton of treasuries - perhaps they know the China end game!

China calls for new reserve currency

    By Jamil Anderlini in Beijing

    Published: March 23 2009 12:16 | Last updated: March 24 2009 00:06

China’s central bank on Monday proposed replacing the US dollar as the international reserve currency with a new global system controlled by the International Monetary Fund.

In an essay posted on the People’s Bank of China’s website, Zhou Xiaochuan, the central bank’s governor, said the goal would be to create a reserve currency “that is disconnected from individual nations and is able to remain stable in the long run, thus removing the inherent deficiencies caused by using credit-based national currencies”.

Analysts said the proposal was an indication of Beijing’s fears that actions being taken to save the domestic US economy would have a negative impact on China.

“This is a clear sign that China, as the largest holder of US dollar financial assets, is concerned about the potential inflationary risk of the US Federal Reserve printing money,” said Qu Hongbin, chief China economist for HSBC.

Although Mr Zhou did not mention the US dollar, the essay gave a pointed critique of the current dollar-dominated monetary system.

“The outbreak of the [current] crisis and its spillover to the entire world reflected the inherent vulnerabilities and systemic risks in the existing international monetary system,” Mr Zhou wrote.

China has little choice but to hold the bulk of its $2,000bn of foreign exchange reserves in US dollars, and this is unlikely to change in the near future.

To replace the current system, Mr Zhou suggested expanding the role of special drawing rights, which were introduced by the IMF in 1969 to support the Bretton Woods fixed exchange rate regime but became less relevant once that collapsed in the 1970s.

Today, the value of SDRs is based on a basket of four currencies – the US dollar, yen, euro and sterling – and they are used largely as a unit of account by the IMF and some other international organisations.

China’s proposal would expand the basket of currencies forming the basis of SDR valuation to all major economies and set up a settlement system between SDRs and other currencies so they could be used in international trade and financial transactions.

Countries would entrust a portion of their SDR reserves to the IMF to manage collectively on their behalf and SDRs would gradually replace existing reserve currencies.

Mr Zhou said the proposal would require “extraordinary political vision and courage” and acknowledged a debt to John Maynard Keynes, who made a similar suggestion in the 1940s.

"Luther's New Testament was so much multiplied and spread by printers that even tailors and shoemakers, yea, even women and ignorant persons who had accepted this new Lutheran gospel, and could read a little German, studied it with the greatest avidity as the fountain of all truth. Some committed it to memory, and carried it about in their bosom. In a few months such people deemed themselves so learned that they were not ashamed to dispute about faith and the gospel not only with Catholic laymen, but even with priests and monks and doctors of divinity." - A complaint by German humanist Johann Cochlaeus.

Who can blame China?! They own this country. The EU will most likely be opposed to a change because the Euro is stronger than the Dollar most of the time.

HC will convince China to stay on board by selling our military technology to China, just wait and see.

    Re: The 2008 Economic Crisis

If China, Europe, Japan or the Ruskies pull out of our currency, that ultimately spells their own demise. We consume too many of their goods. If they drop us, they fall into the black hole too. IMO it's far too inter-connected for them to get away with out their own collapse.

    Re: The 2008 Economic Crisis

I think the answer to the economic crises, is to print our own currency and ditch the fed.

My suggestion would be the new pnet notes:

Isaiah 45:7: I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

I believe the cause of the economic crisis is the phoney concept of "free trade". I believe in free trade, between free countries; but how can a truly free country, like America, the European ones, Canada, etc. compete with those who don't allow workers to organise, to bargin their labor - like China, Tiawan, So. Korea, India, etc., when the wage differance is $20 to $50 an hour, as opposed to $3 to $10 an hour? It was just a matter of time for this crisis when we accepted this phoney idea, and it has arrived. The founding Fathers were wiser than this. For the first 100 yrs., or so, of this Republic; they equalized the inequity with import duties - that actually paid for the cost of our Federal Gov't.

There is only one Christ and that is Jesus. There is only one chief antichrist and that is Satan himself. All that belong to Satan's kingdom are antichrists. This includes demons and reprobate men. The chief characteristic of antichrists is their perpetual refusal to believe in the true Gospel of Christ. In denying the true Gospel they are in effect denying Christ.

All that promulgate a salvation by works, or that one can lose or give away their salvation, are preaching an antichrist gospel. All that espouse an ecumenical creed that state all Christian denominations are part of the body of Christ, are teaching antichrist doctrine.

Enough said. I don't want to veer off topic. If you would like to discuss this further, post in the Augustine thread.

As things are progressing I don't believe we will be a "free" country soon. If the lib's are able to get control of private corporations like they did the big banks this country will move into a socialist state before long. The AIG mess should confirm this to you all. A 100% tax rate should scare us all. With the lib's controlling all three branches of our republic this should happen before obama comes up for reelection ... hope I am completely mistaken here but I truly think this country is going down the socialist way of thinking.

    Re: The 2008 Economic Crisis

Obama is going to push like all get out to get as much of his agenda into law as fast as he can because he knows that in less than 2 years the demacins are going to loose seats to the republicrats. Lets just hope the USD remains the international currency, because if the 'elected' officials continue printing, a 100% tax is possible. Say hello Banana Republic!
