Why must we always use labels!? At least for myself I'd have to say I agree with the points of tulip, but why must we use that term? Why cant we just define what the Gospel is.. those pts are in there, why must we use the word tulip or hyper or pointers? I mean I have a pointer finger? lol...

Yes we agree that we are all depraved.. sinners in need of Christ and our eyes opened. Yes election is unconditional.. salvation is unconditional.. pretty much everyting ins unconditional... Yes Christ died for His sheep only... and yes Grace is irresistable.. if God calls you, opens your eyes and finds you that will happen you cant resist that.. if God gives you grace you have it. and yes we cant loose our salvation.

I would say all (well pretty much) with confidence believe those Truths. I dont know what you mean by hyper? What ya looking for there?

A "Hyper-Calvinist" is simply defined as one who adheres to the sovereignty of God to the exclusion of the responsibility of man. Where this line is drawn concerning man's responsibility has to be defined as well.

Do we draw the line at soteriology, or blanket 'all things' under that exclusion?

If we clearly defined our terms, then I guess it would be possible to come to a conclusion of the majority position of the users of P-net in a general sense - if not, then we end up chasing our tails.

because I kind of like to know who i am fellowshipping with and it is out of convience, too many people say I don't want to use labels, that is nothing new..why don't people just say yes i agree with tulip or no I am a true blue free willer..if in the middle some where then say that it would save alot of time

    Joel,

Hyper-Calvinism is not a defined and identifiable system of doctrine but mostly a label pinned on those whom 'regular Calvinists' (?) perceive as 'too deep into predestination' and do not want to fellowship with for that reason. The 'too deep' doctrine might consist of a hundred variations, any of which some of us here may or may not hold to. So it is just not possible to answer your question based on a label; you have to discuss specific teachings.

Now see here how sleepy-headed all our opponents are, and how little it helps a man to rely on the ancient fathers, for all their repute down the course of the ages! Were they not all equally blind to, yes, and heeldess of, Paul's clearest and and plainest words?

    Re: tulip???

Hi Joel--Each person's beliefs are pretty well spelled out in their profile questionnaire, which can be viewed by anyone reading on the forum. I think those questions go a lot deeper than just the "5 points"!
After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. So Jesus said to the Twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” (Jn. 6:66-69)
