Five Historic False Teachers Promote Revolving-Door Salvation

Pertaining to a current discussion in another thread, I found this 17 year old article outlining one of history's greatest doctrines of devils held in common by five prominent teachers: Augustine, Aquinas, Luther, Arminius, and Wesley.

    http://www.bringyou.to/apologetics/a133.htm

I praise God that he has so ably damned this horrific teaching by raising up those in history who stood for the truth!
Now see here how sleepy-headed all our opponents are, and how little it helps a man to rely on the ancient fathers, for all their repute down the course of the ages! Were they not all equally blind to, yes, and heeldess of, Paul's clearest and and plainest words?

    --Martin Luther

That kind of doctrine (that we can never truly be sure if we are completely saved) is completely contrary to scripture that says "By this you can know you are saved..." and there are other passages that speak on our assurance (I'm not at home, so I do not have the luxury of e-sword right now)...

The Lord has given us the downpayment of being sealed with the Holy Spirit, by which we cry "Abba, Father" who brings all things about Himself and His mercy and grace, into our remembrance...whenever I remember a Bible passage or verse that relates to my present circumstances, I know that is the Spirit of Truth reminding me about His love for me
Dead faith is only possible if you are not ALIVE in Christ!

though they may believe your doctrine.”

    1Jo 3:18
My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
1Jo 3:19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
1Jo 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
1Jo 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

    2Co 1:21 Now he which establisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
2Co 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
Rom 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you,my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Dead faith is only possible if you are not ALIVE in Christ!

though they may believe your doctrine.”

Yes we can be certain of our salvation because in John 10:4, it says quote: "When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice."

It does not say "The sheep must follow." It says "will" follow. Why???? It is "because" they are Gods' sheep or ELECT!!!!

When we come to one of Peters' epistles where the Lord tells us to make our calling and election sure, He starts out with faith, which is a gift from God. He then asks us to add to faith, ALL the virtues on that list. However because we have the Comforter on the inside of us, as we depend on the Holy Spirit, He helps us to do this. He is the enabler. He overcomes "our will" by His irresistable grace. This happens with His own sheep.

WE CANNOT DO ANY OF THIS BY OUR "OWN FREE WLL" WHATEVER THAT IS!!

May the Lord add His own blessing to you!!

    Kevin.
