Re: More Important than the Presidency?

Well, I consider myself a libertarian (philosophically, not PARTY) and stand with Ron Paul on almost all issues. I have followed his views and voting record since about 1995. I also have some differences with him on defense issues, which only surfaced after (not before) the invasion of Iraq. This is not to say that I agree with Bush and McCain on many fundamental defense issues.

I do not believe that Bob Barr, the current libertarian candidate for president, agrees with Ron on this issue either. I would have to check to know for sure. I know that both are opposed to Roe vs. Wade, which, of course, is not even considered significant by the pro-life movement.

It would certainly be interesting to know what John Robbins would think of this if he was still alive, considering his one-time employment, lifelong relationship and friendship with Ron Paul!

Re: More Important than the Presidency?

Brothers, I consider myself a foreigner in this nation, same as every other nation in this dark world. And I must confess I still lack the maturity in living this doctrine out, I am learning.
My opinion...........what is more important than politics, the presidency, prop. 8? PNAF!!!!!!!!!!!! This is a work of importance that has been set aside this year. We have all acknowledged that God has gifted some to write with honorable clarity. There are those of us who recognise, as differing parts of the body, that we are not up to that particular task but have offered oursleves in other areas.
I dont like the idea of suffering anymore than the rest of us, but that appears to be on the agenda no matter who is elected.....as some here have said.
Lori and I just dont have time for politics, there is still just too much work we have to focus on in strengthning our own marriage as well.
Even as we approach our 50's we still havnt perfected communiction and we are working hard on building an even better marriage.....why......because if it reflects what Paul teaches in Eph. 5, then God will be glorified in us and the Holy Spirit will point the work of Jesus out to others around us who are sheep........just havnt been born yet.
Havnt we learned enough already from Constantine and the 4th century?
Alright, I'll get off my soapbox.................but I mean it, I want to act like what I am in any nation of this world..........A FOREIGNER. As a foreigner I am not to expect to have any particular rights, but one thing I am comfident about, is that this nation, nor any other can ever actually accomplish dividing me from fellowship with God...........even if they drugged me to sleep, even there God would be with me and Jesus would continue to grow me and teach me.
No nation on this earth in history, in and of itself, has ever caused the gospel of Jesus to be any more beautiful than it is.
I also agree with Brandan, there is going to be alot more bloodshed to come for this nation, alot more in more ways than just one..........not a pleasant thought either, but never the less............Lori and I as foreigners here, are not people of dual citizenship either.........May the Lord give us strength to live this out till our death or the 2nd coming
    Jn 14:23-24, (NASB)
Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. "He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, BUT The Father's Who sent Me.

Re: More Important than the Presidency?

Thanks Bryan! I agree with much of your conviction, not with everything. But I'm sure we can work it out over time!

Prop 8 passed 52-48 percent. Now, lawsuits are already being filed to try and get the CA Supreme Court to overturn the very BALLOT MEASURE as unconsitutional! This only shows us that those who passionately want same-sex marriage will NEVER accept any decision of any government court, congress, or vote of the people without claiming that it is entirely invalid.

The California constitution defines popular vote as the way to establish a Constitutional Amendment against a decision of the Supreme Court. As we have seen in the past, the constitution of that state also provides for impeachment of a governor by popular vote. Some may rebel that this method of governing is by DEMOCRACY rather than a REPUBLIC. However, this is STATE and not FEDERAL law that is being addressed. Each state is free to establish its own rules on these matters under the U.S. Constitution.

There is ABOLUTELY no way that the Supreme Court of CA can rule favorably on the new lawsuit except that it claims to have ABSOLUTE POWER against ANY vote of the people on ANY issue! If that is what happens, it is truly a sad day against liberty and a HUGE setback in the travail of history against tyrannical government.
Now see here how sleepy-headed all our opponents are, and how little it helps a man to rely on the ancient fathers, for all their repute down the course of the ages! Were they not all equally blind to, yes, and heeldess of, Paul's clearest and and plainest words?

Re: More Important than the Presidency?

I am glad that the measure passed, Im glad that there are still some people that hold to man and women marriage, and not anything else. That is how it has always been and should be. I am glad that things are okay with this for now. You are right those people will never stop, lets just pray that those against same sex marriage will continue to hold their ground. Seems though there tends to be more and more liberals these days. For now its okay... I doubt it will always be this way though, as time progresses.

Yep, there are already books being read to kindergartners across America that talk about "my two dads" and "my two moms." It is only a matter of time and mass "education."

Re: More Important than the Presidency?

Here's something I just got in an e-mail:

'Gay' Pledge Cards Given to Kindergartners

A California school system refuses to say what action, if any, it will take after it received complaints about a kindergarten teacher who encouraged her students to sign "pledge cards" in support of gays.
During a celebration of National Ally Week, Tara Miller, a teacher at the Faith Ringgold School of Arts and Science in Hayward, Calif., passed out cards produced by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network to her class of kindergartners.

The cards asked signers to be "an ally" and to pledge to "not use anti-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) language or slurs; intervene, when I feel I can, in situations where others are using anti-LGBT language or harassing other students and actively support safer schools efforts." ...

Re: More Important than the Presidency?

An update: this thing is far from over; it is only beginning. The Attorney General of the state Jerry Brown has now changed his position and has vowed to fight the legitimacy of passed amendment on the basis that no amendment can be presented for a vote that violates a fundamental civil right (yet HE presented the amendment!).

    1. The amendment would never have been necessary except that the supreme court of California legislated from the bench, overturning the original intent of the word 'marriage' in the state constitution and the will of the voters in a previous proposition.

    2. If 'marriage' as a civil right includes homosexual marriage, it obviously leads to the further conclusion that ANY arrangement that ANY perverts demand be called 'marriage' (polygamy of any sort, same-sex or mixed-sex commune, etc.).

    3. The famed Kenneth Starr, now dean of Pepperdine University in Malibu, is legally representing the defense of prop. 8 in the CA courts (ouch!, the media will try and destroy him utterly).

Many of us have followed Jerry Brown's career from his earliest days; he was governor for 2 terms after Reagan and his father was governor for 2 terms before Reagan (defeating Nixon in 1962 to achieve a second term). He ran for President 3 times, came back to politics as the mayor of Oakland and now the Attorney General, and will run against Arnold S. in the next election to become governor yet again! My personal opinion is that he is up to evil that cannot be expressed in human language.

Re: More Important than the Presidency?

I'm getting sick of this cold civil war!
Ditch the Garbage! - Too many people are proud of their humility - I, on the other hand, am not humble - and am proud of it!

"Luther's New Testament was so much multiplied and spread by printers that even tailors and shoemakers, yea, even women and ignorant persons who had accepted this new Lutheran gospel, and could read a little German, studied it with the greatest avidity as the fountain of all truth. Some committed it to memory, and carried it about in their bosom. In a few months such people deemed themselves so learned that they were not ashamed to dispute about faith and the gospel not only with Catholic laymen, but even with priests and monks and doctors of divinity." - A complaint by German humanist Johann Cochlaeus.

Re: More Important than the Presidency?

Well, it is interesting. I just spent a lot of time in Northern Thailand, the homeland of hill-tribe 'rebels' in that country (sort of like our Scotch-Irish 'mountain folk') who support the elected Thaksin government that is currently in exile (right now, martial law supported by the military and a puppet government rules in Thailand). The currupt Bangkok minority has succeeded in ousting two elected prime ministers in two years by armed rebellion. They advanced 'trumped up' charges of corruption against both.

So our 'cold' civil war is not that unique after all!

The rebel majority who support the elected government demand a return of Thaksin from exile and a re-establisment of the rule of law according to the elected leaders.
Now see here how sleepy-headed all our opponents are, and how little it helps a man to rely on the ancient fathers, for all their repute down the course of the ages! Were they not all equally blind to, yes, and heeldess of, Paul's clearest and and plainest words?
